For Michelle and I? Christmas was always just us, even when we were younger and the foster homes held all the parties. It was us two, exchanging gifts, just... Well, being together.

This year was different. Okay, so we're both lacking pulses, the ability to tan-- But we gained such a lot this year. A family, for starters. Evan. Christmas this year was about family and for the first time in my life? I could honestly say that I felt like part of one.

Evan bought me a platinum diamond ring - told me that if getting me vamped didn't say forever, it was the only thing he could think of that would. *smiles* That, along with my rare ruby necklace? Best gifts ever - and I got a lot.

The best thing about being a vampire - or at least the best thing I can think of at this precise moment - is not having to actually pay for most of your gifts. It works extra well for me since my vamp of leisure status seems to be growing bigger, I mean it's not like I can say to Evan, "Hey baby, can I have some money? I need to buy you a gift."

So, I did what any normal vamp would do. I made a list.

1. Kill sales clerk.
2. Try not to get blood on the stock.
3. Get gifts.

For Evan, I got the special edition DVD of Finding Nemo (I couldn't resist), a TV and DVD player (although that was sorta pre-emptive in that I watch it more than he does) and a pair of platinum and yellow-gold cuff links. I offered to take him shopping for some more presents later but he was more interested in what I could give him without, uh, killing people.

Lindsey, I bought a platinum tie pin - kinda hard to top Evan's gift of the 19 year old virgin, no matter how much you spend.

The boutique I shopped in for the girls was sorta-- Well, different. They had all the upmarket stuff that you see 10 bucks a piece everywhere and then there was the rest of it. Prada bags for Darla and Michelle (who says you can't accessorize when you're dead?) and a dark red corset for Dru. I didn't actually spend as much as I thought I would (what with a few of the gifts being free on account of the deadness of the salesgirl) but I still managed to max out one of my credit cards. Ah well, it's Christmas - the season of giving and all that.

We're heading down to Sunnydale for New Years. Where better to stay than the house of the sister who bought Evan the leather pants? *grins* Taste just knows no bounds in that family.
