As motel rooms go, the one I'm staying in isn't that bad. There aren't many cockroaches cluttering up the living space, the TV doesn't give me an electric shock every time I try to use it... The only bad thing, I guess, is that the bed has one of those electric Magic Fingers machine things.

Eww.All I know is I'm glad they changed the sheets. Eww

You don't scream tourist, but you're kind of the type who'd be hard to miss or forget.

From San Francisco, at least that's where I was born. Kinda travelled a lot since then.

You from around these parts? Or are you another come to seek his fame and fortune in the glittering city of LA? *winks*

Born and raised here. Got accepted to UCLA, didn't see a reason to leave.

Is that why you're in town? Are you an actress or model?

Ah, the intellectual type, huh? *laughs* What're you studying?

And ugh, hell no. I don't have the concentration span to be an actress or a model or any of those glitzy-glam Hollywood types. I guess I'm what you call a drifter. I stay in one place 'til I get bored then I'm gone... Always have been like that, ever since I was a kid.

I'm a law student.

*smiles*

Your family traveled a lot, or did you run away at an early age to travel the world?

*looks at Evan, surprised* You're not exactly how I pictured a law student. Not that that's a bad thing, I just... I dunno, I thought you'd have been less, well, hot. Y'know, you get these ideas about certain kinds of people... *grins*

My family consisted of pretty much me and my twin sister. Mom decided she was too young for twins, we went into foster homes for the next ever and when we were 18 we both hit the road, never to look back again.

I spent a lot of time in a court room when I was a kid. Dad thought child support was a suggestion not an obligation. Their divorce was pretty messy and he attempted to try and win full custody of me after she pressed charges on the child support thing.

Watched the lawyers, got fascinated by law. It still keeps me fascinated so no complaints.

*sips his drink*

Sorry about the foster homes. Twins? Your sister still traveling?

Ouch. Sounds messy, at least the court room stuff anyway. Guess we were lucky in that respect, it was a chore finding people to take us on since we came as a two-some. *smiles*

What kinda law you studying?

*takes a sip of her drink, gesturing to the seat beside her and smiling* I didn't mind the foster homes - the ones who did take us as the package deal were great, the other ones... Well, we managed to kick up enough of a fuss to get our own way so all was good.

*looks down at her drink for a moment, eyes darkening a little* And nope, my sister doesn't do travelling now, not since she got married.

Criminal law, but at the firm I work at, they encourage us to be well versed in many aspects.

*tilts his head, looks sympathetic*

I'm sorry, it sounds like you miss her a lot. My Mom remarried and moved to Florida a couple years ago. It's hard getting used to being alone.

You work at a firm too? *smiles* Is this the part where I have to watch what I'm saying or... No, wait, that's a cop thing, right?

*laughs*

I kinda miss having someone to laugh over stupid stuff with, y'know? *looks at Evan* Not that I was expecting her to be, like, tied to me forever or anythin' but... Yeah.

You live by yourself? Or one of those big-ass college dorm things?

*sips his drink*

I have my own apartment, isn't much, but it's mine. Where are you staying?

Sure, lawyer-boy has a penchance for bondage and we're barely into the first date.

*orders a couple more drinks, before turning back to Evan, smiling*

I'm staying at a little motel down near LaFayette Park. It's decent enough - the only thing that worries me is the Magic Fingers facility 'cause... Eww. I mean, really, do I want to know what the Magic Fingers were doing to whoever stayed there last?
