I'm up so early on a day where I don't have class or work. That doesn't mean I won't go back to bed at some point, but right now I'm enjoying the morning and watching TWC.
The snow has made our show for tonight @ The Midway Cafe be postponed for two weeks.

I think we go on around 11 or 1130.
We also have a show on my birthday March 7th. Its going to be us playing to a bunch of high school kids at a Fundraiser Dance for Quincy baseball and softball. Awk-fest. But after I hope to meet up with lots of my friends at Big City in Allston for pool and beer.
Yesterday I got the new Kevin Devine album. It's pretty epic. I really love the songs he chose for the album. The lyrics are unbelievable and the musicianship has improved greatly on the whole. In its own way it reminds me of Deja Entendu. Not that they sound alike but because they are both so different from their previous release and shows a great amount in growth.
Not to say its completely different, but songs like Brother's Blood and Carnival show a much darker side of his music.
Time to Burn (Another Bag of Bones) is probably my favorite set of lyrics. It seems like it is an agitated sequel to Split the Country's "No Time Flat".
He wrote a blog about his feelings on the leak that you can read here:
http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=7962394&blogId=474032228I think if I had an album that got leaked, Id have mixed feelings about it too.
It sucks that an Independent record label won't see the same profit from the album as they would've had it not leaked. KD has always been able to support himself and his (almost constant) tours. Even after his like, 2-week deal with Capitol.
Basically when it comes down to it, you have to just hope that people will like you enough to go out and spend money on your album even though they got it for free two months earlier.
If I am ever in that situation, as the artist I'd probably just release a statement being like "Yeah, I mean, it leaked but those arent the final mixes. I added a mariachi band to every song. Sounds badass now"
Either way, Brother's Blood is an album that I will be purchasing at the Release Party. It's too good not to.
On a completely unrelated note:
...Does anyone else think Saturday Night Live's contract for Hosts has been slipping in a clause that said that everyone who hosts SNL is contractually bound to an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show?
That has to be how he gets his guests. If it wasn't for his part in Almost Famous (which, I'm pretty sure was decreased greatly in the Theatrical version) he'd have no redeeming qualities in my eyes.
((shakes fist to the sky))
FALLON!
