Movie Reviews

Now ... I watch a lot of films. Way more then any normal person should and because I've moved into a room that has no cable ... I can only imagine how many more I will watch now. I'm most certainly am not going to review every movie I see either (too much effort) so ... I'f I going to put a review up here ... it's going to be because I found the movie to be either

a) Really Good!

or

b) Really Bad!

Scarecrow Gone Wild (2004)

While putting up the link, I noticed there was a review on IMDB that said this movie isn't bad for a "B-Horror movie". As someone who has seen more then her fair share of B-Horror, I feel anyone who says that is really discrediting the horror genre. There are way better B-Horror films then this!

Not to say that the movie is completely unwatchable (I've sat though worse) but everything about it was sub par at best. The movie is about a group of high schoolers who during an athletic hazing ritual, leave one of the boys alone in a corn field for several hours. When hes finally found by his brother (a jock himself would clould have easily prevented this) he's in a life threatening state of diabetic shock. He's rushed to the nearest health care center, but the damage has been done and the scarecrow is already out for revenge. Don't even get me started on the numerous plot holes or the lousy ending which was ripped right off (and poorly I might add) from The Exorcist.

The acting is terrible. I don't think any one of the players is in the Actors Guild (which is nice for a low budget film because they can save some money) but that doesn't always equal awful performances like it does here. The production values was pretty sub-par even by a direct to video film standard and the gore wasn't very good either (there's an eviceration in here that looked like they dunked a bunch of cocktail weenies in red corn syrup and placed them on this guys belly).

Okay class ... now its time for your word problem. What does Bad Plot, Gaping Plot Holes, Bad Acting Bad Special Effects, Low Production Values equal? If you answered a bad movie (even for a B one) you answered correctly.

Later ... My review of the Machinist.
