Round and round it goes

Wow. I go away for a few weeks and everything implodes. I don't even know where to start with all that as I'm sure I don't have all the facts, so I'll just keep my mouth shut on it.

Holly mentioned being surprised that I'd miss New Orleans. Guess I can clarify that a bit. Like I said, it's a beautiful city. So much rich history here, even now with the signs of Katrina still clear all over the place. There's nothing like this back in Zid, with the big trees and wisteria and jasmine scenting the air, the laziness of everything and the heat. Yeah, it's muggy, but there's something about it that's nice, even as much as I bitched about it during filming. There's just so much here, and I'm glad to see they're rebuilding it.

As a music fan -- as a jazz & blues fan -- something in New Orleans speaks to me.

Plus, I'll miss the morning beignets and the muffelatas and po-boys, the andoulle and etouffee, the chickory that wakes me up when nothing else can...yeah.

I was thinking last night, though, after the boys had passed out. Just sat there, watching them dream, the lights dimmed down and the windows open so I could hear the quiet hum of the night sounds. I've got time before the next film starts. Quite a bit of it, actually, as we're still in pre-production. Maybe I'll travel. Alone.

My mum wants the boys for a bit, and it's good for them to be home and for me to have time for myself. So maybe Europe or Britain or somewhere in South America or Africa. Just take some time and go, sort myself out -- sort my head out -- so I know what I want and what I want to do and where I want to be.

All good things to know, really.

And maybe I'll come back to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Maybe I'll bring someone with me. Who knows.

It's the future, man, anything's possible.
