In the Wizarding world, I’m going to "apparate" then "disapparate" once again...

Please excuse me for being tardy to type an update... really, what other explanations do I have? I have been really busy like hell, besides I don’t think I’m going to update LJ every week.

Hmm, I just went to Edmonton for the weekend before end of July. I figured that it’s time for me to take a better tour of Edmonton this time. The last time I went to Edmonton was the conference at ASD (Alberta school for the deaf). The verdict: Edmonton isn’t any good compared to Calgary! In my opinion, the best tourist attraction of Edmonton is probably the Whyte Ave, and the 2nd world largest mall, West Edmonton Mall, obviously. Whyte Ave is quite similar to the Uptown Ave (17 Ave in Calgary), except that the Uptown Ave have plenty of trendy shops than Whyte Ave. Although, Whyte Ave is more known as the central point for many inspirational artists to display their work or buy the best art supplies. There is one thing that I’m flabbergasted about Edmonton. During the first night, I went to a pub with a friend along with some people. The first thing I noticed was the aroma - nobody didn’t even light a cigarette. I don’t smoke, but it was somewhat odd to notice that nobody was smoking indoor since I’m accustomed to people smoking at bars. I was like, what is going on? My friend explained to me why. Apparently, the city passed a bylaw stating smoking is prohibited in ALL public places including restaurants, bars, patios, and casinos in city of Edmonton in effective July 1st 2005. It is just hard to believe that Edmonton actually went through all of it to become a smoke-free city already. I mean, I thought it is going to happen here in Calgary first before Edmonton will follow next. I know it as a fact, it will happen to Calgary in the year of 2008. Calgary isn’t the only one though; Vancouver is going to do it as well. I think there are more cities in Canada already prohibited smoking in public places. If you’re a smoker, Isn’t it another good reason to quit for good? Yes, I know it is going to be a downfall for some businesses in general, but what they can do about it? It is in the hands of city council or whoever else is lobbying for this bylaw to be passed. However, there are some debates affirm that bars should allow people to smoke freely since minors are not allowed. Anyone have an opinion to share?

Just recently on the long weekend, I went out of town again with 3 good friends of mine. It was pretty awesome, I’d say, definitely the best trip I ever had. For once, the weather was cooperating with us! Haha.

I might be going out town ONE more time before I hit the books again. The plans aren’t confirmed or anything yet.

Oh one more thing, you wouldn’t believe what happened last week. There is just one word to describe it: disaster. On Wednesday, after work I was walking home from LRT station, and somehow I lost my damn wallet (I believe that it fell off from the pocket of my jacket). I didn’t realize that I lost it till the next morning. I was sooo upset and angry at the same time, I mean, ALMOST everything I need is inside of that damn wallet - license, SAIT ID card, etc. I panicked, so I went and looked on the streets, but had no luck finding it. I got my mom to cancel the bank card for me (she work at the bank anyway), and did some calls to cancel some of my other cards during that morning. Then at around 7:30pm on Friday, I was so damn lucky. I was outside talking to my neighbor who lives behind us, so I didn’t know that there was someone at the door. My mom came out smiling to let me know that someone is here who wanted to talk to me. I didn’t expect anyone to come that early, so I was bit nervous to know who it was. The first thing I saw was a guy (probably in his mid-20s) holding my black wallet. I was so overjoyed and I thanked him like 5 times. He explained that the wallet was lying on the black cement of the road, and so it was practically transparent. On Wednesday after work, when he gets out of his car, he saw the wallet was right there. He said, “Well, I’m sorry if I didn’t return it sooner, but consider yourself lucky this time. Next time may be an unfortunate one.” Yes, that’s true. He just happened to be a nice guy who is kind enough to return the wallet to me. Thankfully, I have everything back, even the small wad of cash (I have only 15 bucks inside along with Tim Horton’s gift certificates). I definitely learned my lesson; I can’t help it but knowing that I’m just a lucky bitch. Aha!

I think this is fairly a long update, so I’m going to pull to a stop for now. Take it easy, people!
