I’m on my break now from doing homeworks.
My first week of school went pretty good. I’m taking 6 courses right now… it’s pretty heavier than first semester. I’m taking geology, geophysics, computer networking, java programming, drilling, and statistics.
Since when the drilling class started, I noticed that the teacher do have a strong accent (he comes from India), and he kept trailing on and off - you know, say something that is an uncompleted sentence and then changes into a new sentence. It is already getting on the students’ nerves - and mine as well. There are like 4 guys in my class who do have the knowledge and experience with drilling. On Monday class, Raman, one of the girls asked Ray (the guy who sits next to her) for some help. And then the teacher saw it and got pissed off and said something like - “Do not ask your next person. If you don’t understand anything, ASK ME ONLY, because I have knowledge about drilling more than you do.” Whoa. What the hell? More than half of us do not even understand a THING come out of his mouth. Yes, I understand why we should ask him - because he is a teacher and so on. But what are the alternative ways if we do not understand what he is trying to teach? We can ask our peers who already have the experience on the rig site. Anyways, when the class was over, everyone started to talk about what just happened. We agreed that we will only ask each other for help during OUTSIDE of class time. I really don’t know what’s gunna happen next. Some suggestions that I heard from them: go to the program coordinator and sort this out right away, wait till the first quiz or wait for another two weeks to see if there are any improvements.
Ugh. This week is so demanding already - it is only week two of semester two! I have so much studying to do.
Alright, I better get going. I’ll try to type another update soon.
