Yup, another picspam!!
So clearly, I really like to cast things. I don't know what it is! I just love it. Especially books i'm reading and recasting classic films with modern actors. And fortunately for me, this months
picspammy challenge (or one of them, anyway) is Re-casting!
Wuhtering Heights is one of the best books I've ever read. I absolutely adore it. I'm also a big fan of Jane Eyre, but Wuthering Heights truly has my heart. It's just so unconventional. Every romantic cliche is flipped on it's head. There isn't really one chracter who is completely likeable and it's just so dark and symbolic and sooooo ahead of its time. I had some ideas, of course, back when i first read it maybe 4 or 5 years ago, but they've all completely changed. I did give myself some paramaters this time around for this challenge just to make things more interesting. Firstly, I wanted to go with less predictable choices, such as Keira Knightley or Natalie Portman as Cathy and Johnny Depp as Heathcliff and so forth. Now, i think all of those people are absolutely fabulous actors, but like I said, that would've been predictable and boring. I also wanted to keep it relatively young, and most importantly, I REALLY wanted Heathcliff to be ethnic. Every adaptation of WH always has a Whitey McWHiterson as Heathcliff, and that is not how Bronte describes him at all. He is dark-skinned and implied to be most likely descended from gyspsies. I didn't cast every single character, i just went with the ones that were most dynamic (for me).
So enough of my spiel. Enjoy! And of course, opinions are always welcomed and appreciated!
