At the best of times, packing a house up to move is in my opinion one of the dullest, most draining, depressing jobs around. Sifting through all of our crap yet again takes ages, although, at least this time we are being incredibly ruthless in regard to getting rid of possessions. Today, however, was a sad day. Today was the last day of the Katamari costumes. The Prince and Fujio have sat merrily in the second bedroom, smiling at you as you come up the stairs and keeping the hamster company for over a year now. Sadly, we have no need, or space, for them anymore, and we couldn't find a home for them. So the time came for them to be crushed. Their poor smiley faces went all crinkly :(!
Although that was a sad affair, we are finally getting through things and getting rid of a lot of things we just don't need anymore. I'm getting rid of all my cosplay tomorrow (except for the wigs and Mono/Momoko) and I have to throw away the majority of my university work... which is kind of weird, having only finished 3 months or so ago. We were quite horrified to find that we still had Con-packs from many moons ago (why?) two of which had very out-of-date Pocky in them. Even more gross was the can of Safeways (they don't even exist anymore) Peeled Plum Tomatoes. Over two years out of date. That means we must have carried it with us for no less than two previous moves. What the hell??? I'm usually very carefully and to be honest, slightly anal about sell by dates and food hygiene. Had me rolling around the kitchen floor laughing for a while, anyway.
Another fact which had Jon and I laughing a lot was the packing boxes. Jon stole these boxes from the next doors garden when they moved in a few weeks ago. The best thing we discovered tonight, they had a whole, huge box dedicated just to jigsaws (judging by their writing on the outside). Eh?? Dorky or what! My mother suggested they could be some kind of erotic jigsaws, which only inflamed the laughter and joking further.
Not going too badly, all over by the weekend :) (but then there is the unpacking, woes!).
