Usually after each failed relationship. ;-)

I go, "Huh...these things that I thought wouldn't be problems turned out to be problems. Won't make that mistake again."

Every item on that list can be directly linked to an ex of mine.

i'm sorry to know you've had to deal with any of this bullshit before. but hey, standards don't just come from nowhere, do they? it makes me happy that you know what you want (and don't want). so many people take shorts just because they're desperate, lonely, or don't think they can do any better.

I think that's a great point.

I didn't start dating ever until four years ago, and my first relationship lasted a year and a half. Most of that stuff is stuff I've learned recently.

It's also probably why I'm single right now.

if you can be content when you're alone, chances are you'll have that much more to give someone who deserves it (once that someone comes along).
