new kitty!!!
i spent the whole day at the humane society, and we finally decided on this beautiful sweetheart whose current name is maple, but who we hope to eventually name emo because it suits her sooo well... she is so beautiful and has the biggest eyes ever! she still hasn't meowed or anything, she's incredibly shy, and she just sat there in her cage at the humane society staring off into space.. she looked like she was on acid or something. she is adorable. she was brought in as a stray when she was seven months, then adopted by a family who returned her after a year and a half because of "allergies". ugh. she is very stressed right now, and i think it will take her a little while to get used to the house and to let her guard down enough to get comfortable here, but we're trying to make it as easy as possible. she's parked herself under the futon in the living room and hasn't moved since this afternoon. i'm going to pick up a scratching post and some toys and treats and more food tomorrow! we have to get her spayed still - i'm worried that that will make her even more stressed out and less trustful of us.. and we have to do it soon, within the next week or two. but nicole suggested that we get her a toy, which will have the house scent and hers on it, and then send her to the vet with the toy so she remembers us. she is amazing! i love her! once she settles in and feels more like part of the family, there will be pictures! :)
