Happy 10 Year LJ-versary to MEEEEE

Apr 13, 2013 23:31

Today it's ten years since I signed up for LJ! Wheee!

It's been a truly crappy week, so instead, let's focus on the good things in life, shall we? Specifically, my favorite recent purchases:

Coffee table )

tv: orphan black, 10 year lj-versary!, you materialistic whore!, tv: hannibal

Happy 10 year LJ-versary! Gosh, mine is this year too, we're getting old. :/

I love that coffee table, what a smart idea!

I watched House of Cards a couple of weekends ago, and I really loved it. The pacing is not the best thing, but I got completely involved in the story. And Kevin Spacey's character is the most fascinating unreliable narrator I've seen in a really long time.

Also, I *loved* *loved* *LOVED* Banshee. It's extremely violent, and you wanna hit every single character upside the head for being stupid, but I ended up completely hooked. And Antony Starr has this insane screen presence, that he ends up playing an *adorable* sociopath you actually root for.

Half my flist is celebrating a decade of LJ this year. And some of them I didn't even friend right away, but still! 2003 was apparently a very popular year to join up. Like molly_may mentioned, probably a lot of people trying to find something to do as Buffy was ending.

I spent 6 months looking for it, so I'm so glad it came out alright. Each shelf is divided into four sections, and the one closest to the couch I use a basket on the bottom shelf and a desk organizer on the top shelf to store keyboard (and mouse, but I never do that) and remotes.

I'm thinking of trying out a Netflix subscription (30 day free trial dealio), but I thought I'd wait for the end of the month so it'll last until the first AD episode. I'll probably watch it then.

I have Banshee, but I've sort of put it at the back of the cue (and it's getting further and further back because I've currently fallen into a YouTube black hole of beauty videos, so I'm about a week behind on all my shows). But now I might just move it ahead of at least Party Down season 2.

Cool purchases! Love that coffee table especially.

I'm still watching The Following, mostly for Kevin Bacon at this point. There's only a couple of episodes left, so I need to see what happens, too. I'm wondering what S2 will consist of because I can't imagine how much more story they can wring out of this set-up.

Thank you!

I did consider continuing to watch until the end of the season, but since I've hardly retained any information from the last few episodes, I can't imagine finding the remaining episodes all that absorbing.

I feel like there's only so much time you can spend on the glorification of violence before it starts getting really icky, and that point has long since passed for me and The Following. I can't even imagine a big reveal drawing me back in because at this point, I'm expecting the big reveals and nothing surprises me.

Happy anniversary :)

And I would recommend watching episode 2 of Hannibal before you give up on it. Talk to me about mushrooms after you do.

Thanks!

I may. Like I said, my friend's comments made me curious. But like I also said, I don't want to get sucked in and end up hating myself. I'm conflicted right now, don't know which way I'll end up going.

Happy LJ-versary! In August, it will be ten years for me too. Heh, you can tell we were all looking for something to do as Buffy ended.

I loooove that coffee table!

I feel much the same way about Hannibal. I loved the look and the style of it, which is not surprising since it's Bryan Fuller, but I am just not at all into the serial killer genre. One of the moments that made me realize that I really like Elementary came when Sherlock said "You've met serial murderers, they are duller than the queen's jubilee. Mouth breathers and chronic omnists, the lot of them" which seems way more accurate than this current trend of trying to make them seem seductive somehow.

In short, I would like Hannibal a lot more if they removed the title character. The only reason I'm even conflicted about not watching it is because Gillian Anderson is going to be on later in the season!

I liked the pilot of Orphan Black too, and I should get caught up. I'm watching so few things these days.

Thank you! I think that I was very much looking for a way to extend my Buffy fandom experience (and I was growing very disillusioned with TWoP, which I'd never even joined but was getting tired of nonetheless).

Thanks! I'm so happy I finally found something that worked. It seemed everything that was small enough to fit the space was this rickety looking thing that in no way fit the general theme of the space.

I am just not at all into the serial killer genre.
See, what's so weird is that I am. Or at least I have been. But apparently it's getting old. Or I'm more into serial killers being caught and can't stomach watching one play cat-and-mouse with the FBI.

Oh right, I saw Gillian in the preview. That would be a reason to stick around if ever there was one, but I still don't want to.

I still need to get caught up with Orphan Black, but I think it will have to wait because this coming week will not be fun.
