I got back from my island vacation a couple of weeks ago, but hiatus doldrums have put the kibosch on my posting anything. Basically, it all boils down to this: ( What I Did on My Spring Vacation )

personal, gvp (gratuitous video post), tv: amazing race, tv: survivor, vacation, tv: cougar town, tv: good wife, tv: top chef

The one thing I feared about the whole Kalinda/Peter thing was that Alicia would put all the blame on Kalinda and forgive Peter again (I hate it when women blame the other woman instead of, you know, THE GUY WHO ACTUALLY MADE PROMISES TO THEM TO STAY FAITHFUL).
UH THAT WAS NEVER MY FEAR BECAUSE ALICIA HAS NEVER BEEN THAT KIND OF WOMAN. That would be such a non-Alicia thing for her to do, blame the other woman. I know she's been tight-lipped about Peter's first scandal, but I never got the impression that she was going around blaming the prostitute for the situation. It was always Peter's fault in her eyes. ETA: I HAVE MORE TO SAY ON THIS SITUATION. I actually kind of love Alicia's relationship with Peter for being... realistic? fair? I don't think I hate Peter as much as everyone else does, because Chris Noth has ALWAYS been a sleaze to me so everything he does is just LOL Chris Noth being Chris Noth. But I think they've done a good job to show how Alicia used to be in love with him, may even still be in love with him, but how she's never actually forgiven him. I would never call Alicia a passive woman but I feel like Peter re-entering her life (moving back in, slowly becoming a real husband to her again) sort of just happened to her, or she let it happen because of the kids and the public. She didn't want to hurt her kids by rejecting him, which would take their father away AND make them the center of another scandal in one move. He always seems to maneuver her into a corner where she doesn't feel like she can say no to him for the sake of the people she cares about (like the press conference in the S1 finale). BUT THIS TIME IT'S FUCKING PERSONAL, I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR HER TO HAVE 1) GOTTEN HIM AN APARTMENT AND 2) MOVED ALL HIS STUFF WITHOUT HIM EVEN KNOWING BECAUSE ALICIA GETS SHIT DONE.

And this may be because of my blind love for Kalinda but for whatever reason I can't blame her either. To me Kalinda is an amoral character - she's not evil but neither is she compassionate nor caring unless it's the very very very few people she feels close to (Alicia, Will, Cary). So when she slept with Peter, it was before she knew Alicia, when Alicia was just Peter's Wife and an abstract thought. I remember when Blake first dropped this bomb everyone was like, but Kalinda would never! and I was like, have you MET Kalinda? Sleeping with a married man because she a) wanted to b) wanted something from him or c) all of the above is TOTALLY something that falls in line with her moral code. It's only after she became friends with Alicia that this would be something she regretted.

Of course, not that Alicia is supposed to see the situation this way. I agree that it's going to be about the hurt and betrayal and secret keeping, not about a catfight over a man. UGH THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD.

To be honest, that was more of a knee-jerk reaction of what often happens in real life rather than what we see on television, because most TV shows don't do that (has any tv show done that? I'm thinking Dallas or another of those 80s soaps, maybe?). But I agree, Alicia is not like that. However, I can totally see both Peter and Kalinda getting the cold shoulder and I worry about that because Alicia's and Kalinda's relationship is my favorite on the show and I hope it hasn't been irrevocably ruined by this.

I don't like that Kalinda slept with a married man, but I recognize this as something completely in character and I liked her in spite of knowing what she was like, so the act itself was never really an issue for me. It was the WHO not the WHAT. Though I guess in a way it's a good thing they did it or Alicia probably would have never given Peter the heave-ho. And it was time to derail that train, because it was becoming much too easy for them to slip into their old roles when I don't think Alicia ever really wanted to go back to the way things were. Like you said, it was for the kids.

when Blake first dropped this bomb everyone was like, but Kalinda would never!
People said that? What show/character have they been watching? Because I thought it was obvious it was something she would do, it was just disappointing that she had done it. And I mean disappointing in that it would ruin Kalinda and Alicia's relationship. Any friendship they have after this will have to be rebuilt.

I'm sorry to cut in here, but I just really, realllllly, really, really like that you included Will in the list of people Kalinda feels close to. THEIR SCENES ARE THE BEST. And I'm out.
