Today is the day

I finally filed my tax return today, and barring any problems, should have a refund coming my way in about a month and a half. And I'm considering spending some of it on the exact same thing I splurged on with my last tax refund: an eReader. Since buying the first one about a year ago I've read about as many books as I did in the six-seven years before that combined. So I definintely consider it a worthwhile investment. And the one I have my eye on has the exact features I was looking for last year: touchscreen and 16 level grayscale, with the additional feature of wifi. And BeBook even has their own rebranded version (is it bad that I almost want to buy the BeBook rebrand just because I think the splash screen is so much prettier?)

GOING TO SEE IRON MAN 2 IN LESS THAN THREE HOURS! Woohoo! I haven't been this excited about seeing a movie in a long time. I just hope my high expectations don't lead to a big letdown if the movie doesn't live up to the original.

Since I decided against watching Modern Family this season, naturally I'm now translating it. NATURALLY. Because god is punishing me (god being my boss, of course). My biggest contention with the show was Phil, but I have to say I'm pretty okay with it anyway. I mean, I'm getting paid to watch it, so having to suffer through Phil isn't as bad as it could have been. (Just from the pilot, he ranked right up there with Michael Scott as embarrassing characters I couldn't stand to watch. And while the other episodes - I'm up to 1x03 - haven't been as bad, I'm pretty sure I could grow to loathe him.)

I'm a little surprised that it's labeled a mockumentary at Wikipedia, though. It doesn't feel at all as a mockumentary except for the talking heads they do. I haven't made it far into the series, but does the mockumentary format become more prominent at some point?

I have almost no TV to talk about because all I'm doing right now is reading regency period romance novels and watching Kdrama(s) recommended by typicrobots. Some of what I've watched since my last TV post:

The Good Wife
I loved this week's episode! Okay, so I love them every week, but this week I was finally getting into the Alicia/Will thing - and they hardly featured at all! I'd really like to know what the hell Peter was looking to accomplish by running after Alicia, though.

Project Runway
I really enjoyed this season. And while none of the final collections blew me away (though I was heavily leaning towards Milla's, surprisingly enough since I didn't really enjoy her work on the show since it was so one-note. Turns out one-note works well for a collection, though!), I'm happy with the winner and doubly happy that Emilio didn't win! Sorry, but the color palette he chose was FUGLY. I don't care if they're the hot new thing (are they?), they were so ugly I couldn't see past them to actually look at the designs. Which leads me to think that the designs weren't that hot either.

The Amazing Race
Non-elimination legs leave you with nothing much to say, but I have to say that I'm rooting so hard for the cowboys, who finally seem to have moved past the stupidity they seemed to grow out of nowhere. I only hope they make it all the way to the finish.

Also, while the brothers have always been my second least favorite team, their shrewd assessment that Brent and Caite were unbelievably stupid not to u-turn the cowboys made me like them a bit more. I may like the cops better, but I will never understand why they didn't target the cowboys instead of the lesbians. Unless it was solely because of the animosity Catie already held for the lesbians...whose names I can never remember. Carol? Brandy? Am I even close? Whatever, they're gone now.

Glee
Yeah, I'm still not on the hate train, but I thought last week's Madonna episode was weak, so this week I enjoyed myself much more. And Kristin can guest star every week from now on, that would work wonders for my enjoyment level.

I liked seeing some of the characters who have been relegated to the background until now get some screentime, Mercedes's storyline was great. Can next week be all about an Asian Kid (TM Sue Sylvester) or something? However, I'm pretty much over Finn, and especially Finn singing.

I hardly post anymore, but I still feel like I'm much more active on LJ than I've been for a while now since I post daily to acapaday. I often have that sudden inspiration of posting about something, but then I always think that that one thing isn't enough and can never think of another subject to post about and then I just give up on the whole idea. I'm not sure why I have that block, I used to post about just about anything, just about any time I felt like it.
