I'm currently halfway through The Deeper Meaning of Liff, which is like my favorite new thing. For those not in the know, it's "a dictionary of things there aren't any words for yet", by Douglas Adams and John Lloyd. All words are really geographical places.
My favorites so far:
- ABILENE (adj.)
Descriptive of the pleasing coolness on the reverse side of the pillow. (I love that abilene feeling!) - DEVENTER (n.)
A decision that's very hard to take because so little depends on it - like which way to walk round a park. - ELY (n.)
The first, tiniest inkling you get that something, somewhere, has gone terribly wrong. (Haha, Douglas Adams and/or John Lloyd are sooooo Sports Night fans.) - HYNISH (adj.)
Descriptive of the state of mind in which you might as well give up doing whatever it is you're trying to do because you'll only muck it up.
And let me tell you, by the time I stopped working at almost eight last night, I was feeling hynish in the extreme. But today was the first day of my five day weekend, so today is a happy day!
I've been watching a lot of TV since my last update. A LOT. I'm almost back to my January levels, after dropping to alarmingly low levels in March.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles
While I enjoyed the show last season, it never really clicked for me, but just a few episodes into season 2, and it did - with a vengeance! I've been loving the last few episodes especially, and I can't wait to finish off the rest of the season.
Also, I'm really hoping that Terminator 4 is a monster hit, because I think that may be the only way this show gets another season.
Life
While I hate that none of my Dani issues were addressed, I really loved the finale. It worked for me in almost every way as a series finale. I don't need everything wrapped up in a neat bow (in fact, I prefer it if it isn't), and just the hint that Tidwell might not be Reese's significant other for that much longer was enough for me to fanwank just that. Oh, and that Tidwell was so broken up about it that he had to move back to New York.
The thing is, I don't really hate Tidwell as a person, but he's been sucking so much as a character all season that I just can't bear the sight of him anymore. It's very similar to how I felt about Piz, actually. And with any luck, I've seen the last of both of them.
Better Off Ted
After this last episode, I'm totally 'shipping Ted/Veronica. And seriously, how great a character is Veronica? She has the cluelessness of Lindsay and the ruthlessness of Lucille. The perfect combination!
Veronica is really the thing that's keeping me watching this. Not that I dislike the other elements, but if not for her, I would probably just not care enough to continue.
My Boys
This whole PJ/Bobby thing isn't working for me, and it's kinda ruining my enjoyment of the entire show. I think this one might find itself on the scrap heap if their relationship doesn't crash and burn pretty soon.
I've run out of NCIS seasons on DVD, so unless this Farscape itch gets its claws in me completely, I think the next show in the pipeline is going to be Deadwood. Finally!
I've been really good about adding 25 bucks to my Kiva account each month, and so far this year, I've made seven new loans (the repaid loans have enabled me to loan $175, even though I've only put $100 into my account)! And I think that once this year is up, I'll probably be able to make at least a loan a month in perpetuity without adding another cent.
And since I love the idea of this site so much, here's that link again:
And if you do decide to make a loan, do join the
fandom team. The number of members has doubled since my last mention, and the amount loaned has quadrupled, but I still think fandom can do much more.
And if you're into country rivalry, Team Sweden just passed Team USA, which is simply pitiful, you guys. Come on, where's your patriotism?! ;-) (If you're wondering where my patriotism is, I don't care so much about the US being ahead of us, since the US population is about 30 times the size of ours. I just want us to beat those @%!#^/$ Norwegians!)
