It's hard to work when your head is spinning, so instead I've been watching some TV over the last couple of days...
The Amazing Race
I was sad to see Kynt and Vixyn go, because even at their most horrible, they were better than almost every other team still in the race. And when they did arrive last (why oh WHY couldn't Jen and Nate be last? Why does the universe hate me so much?) I realized that I don't care much about the remaining teams. The only thing I do care about? Nate and Jen NOT winning.
I think TK and Rachel are probably the most deserving of the win, even though I wouldn't mind it if either of the other two did. Sure, Christina's dad is an ass, but she deserves the million dollars just for putting up with him.
Project Runway
For the first time this season I completely agreed with the judges, both on the winning and the losing garments. I would have been okay with any of the top three garments winning, and to tell you the truth, Chris's was probably slightly more my favorite, but more from a personal style standpoint than a fashion one.
And Elisa had worn out her welcome, at least as a designer. That, whatever the hell it was, was just not pretty.
I do have to agree with Christian (much as I dislike him personally and his style in general) that he is one of the few people there with an actual viewpoint. The only others I feel actually have a particular style is Jillian and Victorya. I think Victorya's is probably the esthetic I find the most attractive, but really, none of them float my boat. "Most talented group of designers ever", MY ASS.
Gossip Girl
The show is kind of losing me. As a midseason point, it's actually in a pretty good place, but considering there's only one episode left (and I doubt we're getting more), I think they're in a terrible place.
I'd say the show has sort of reached a status quo, it's at the point where everything would start getting turned on its head, building and building until finally culminating in a finale that's 180 degrees from where we're at now. Only...that's not going to happen this year. Instead we're going to be left hanging right as the interesting stuff is about to happen, and that's not the way to get me to keep obsessing about the show during the long, long, LOOOOONG hiatus.
The Wire
Sure, I've been looking forward to the show, but it wasn't until I actually watched it that I remembered just WHY. God, I've missed all these people. Even the ones I can hardly remember from last season.
And the newspaper angle? Probably my favorite since season 1. I liked the education system angle from last season, but HATED the shipping yard/union thing in season 2 (mostly because it didn't involve the established characters enough, all the stuff going on on the docks was too isolated and never really led anywhere in subsequent seasons).
I'm sad to see McNulty back to his old tricks, but at the same time glad that he's back in the mix - which he just can't be if he's living the suburban dream life, sadly.
I couldn't believe Bubbles was actually clean. My recollection of season 4 is a tad sketchy at the moment, but wasn't he back in the hole by the end of last season? I now live in fear of the day when he succumbs once again. And you just KNOW it's going to happen. It's The Wire, after all.
So I guess that only leaves us with one question: Where the heck is Omar?
