Well, that sucked

I posted an Office season finale picspam, and I thought the comments were kind of sparse, even for a Friday. Then I go back and look, and for some reason the post was backdated over three hours. Thanks, LJ, I know I can always count on you [to screw things up]!

Let's talk a little ( Shear Genius while I'm here. )

tv: shear genius, tv: veronica mars season 3

Veronica has always been the opposite of demonstrative when it comes to her feelings, so her cuddly-feely thing with Piz just makes me think she likes him less, though I'm pretty sure the show is using that as a short-cut for writing the development of the relationship.

(When I mentioned Keith being resentful over Logan's comment, I didn't actually mention which comment, but you may have figured out that it was the one where he told him about the risks she was taking and that he should be more on the ball when she does stupid stuff like that. You probably figured that out, though, huh? ;-)

The only time I can remember Keith and Logan talking - or rather, trying to talk - was at the dinner. Only Veronica put the kibosh on pretty much every subject that was brought up. If Keith only heard about surfing, I'm thinking it's because Logan figured Veronica didn't want him to talk about anything deeper with her father (probably because she was ashamed of his lack of motivation). Still doesn't mean that Keith isn't perfectly aware of just what Logan has done for Veronica.

Yeah, I agree. Which is so grating.

Yes, I knew exactly which comment you meant! Hee.

Keith and Logan also had that moment in the hallway, when V was in prison. Judging by that exchange, Keith's snipe about him was not only out of line, but out of left field. It's not like Logan is his dream boyfriend for Veronica, but I think Keith does like him and appreciate all he's done for Veronica.

The writers don't agree, but that seems to change week to week!

The emotional resonance is completely missing from every single interaction on the show right now. For a while there I was at least getting some Veronica/Logan stuff, but the closest I get to a meaningful relationship right now is Mac/Veronica. And that's just passing each other in the hallway basically. Piz/Veronica has been a joke ever since they first decided that character development is for suckers! and all you really need for a love interest is someone who really really really digs her a lot.

And, on a related note, I'm so with you on the Dick thing. It was perhaps the only true emotional note of the entire episode, but a second after they cut from his confrontation with his father I scoffed at it. Too little, too late! If it had happened in the first half of the season - with potential for even more development - I may have given a crap. Right now, I don't even like Dick anymore because they've wasted him so.

I'd forgotten about their moment in the hallway, but it's really not conducive to anything but talking about the reason why they're there. Small talk about the weather would seem frivolous, and deeper stuff would seem out of place. I guess I don't really count it as a time when Keith would expect to enter into a deep conversation with Logan.

I totally agree about the missing emotional resonance. I love Mac, but I really don't care about her and Max, or her and Bronson. Maybe if they'd dealt with her trauma about Cassidy. (Such a dramatic goldmine!)

Definitely too little, too late with Dick. They could have made him interesting instead of just one-note character relief. Feh.

In the hallway, it wasn't a deep conversation, but there was a good tone to it. I'll have to rewatch, but I remember thinking that it was a nice moment. They kind of had an understanding. And really, considering all Logan has been through with Lilly and his father, I'd expect Keith to be compassionate to him. Especially when you factor in Logan saving Veronica and making her pancakes the next morning to try and comfort her. Pancakes! Yeah, he's a real selfish bad boy!
