VM 3x12

So, pretty much everyone thinks this episode sucked, and I can't disagree - it did. So much so that I don't really feel like a picspam today (not to mention having better things to do with my time), but I did really like these caps:

It felt to me like the episode struck all the wrong emotional notes. The break-up should have been (in my opinion) about how some things just hurt too much to get past and it's really no one's fault, but instead Veronica comes off as harsh and judgmental because she's basing her judgment on flawed logic. Maybe it's wrong of me to get hung up on her fallacy that Madison roofied her drink, but I do.

I've seen people mentioning that Logan knowing about Madison's actions on the night of the rape were tantamount to character assassination, and at first I was pretty outraged too. But then I started thinking about it and if Veronica told him about it at the time she told him that it was Duncan, then I don't see how he's supposed to perceive Madison's actions as being so bad when Veronica obviously felt that Duncan hadn't done anything wrong, and, in fact, started dating and sleeping with him just months later.

In Logan's mind, how is Madison's trip to the dentist any worse than Duncan raping her having sex with her, or for that matter, Logan drugging Duncan or Dick trying to drug Madison? She's forgiven all of that, so why is this such a big deal when it was bitchiness and not outright cruelty? And if there was no rape (at least when Logan found out), how can Madison be the devil's spawn for handing her a drink she didn't know was drugged?

As for the "slut" on the car, well, Logan's said much worse things to Veronica, I'm sure (I can't think of anything concrete now, mostly just allusions and the dig at her mother's alcoholism in the pilot).

By the time Beaver's role that night was made clear, I doubt Logan even thought about Madison's part in it. If anything, he should have been blaming Dick, but I realize that ship has long since sailed.

As for my 'ship, I'm nowhere near giving up on it. In the end I think those two are it for one another. But at this time, in order for that to happen I think they both need to grow separately. Veronica needs to let go of the hurt (in some ways, the fact that it hurts her that much helps me to see how much she cares for Logan) and learn to not be so freaking harsh and judgmental with the people she loves. Logan, on the other hand, needs to learn to love himself and realize that he deserves better than constantly being judged in a relationship. If the show doesn't get there, I'm sure someone will write it at some point.

I'm really hoping that this episode is just an aberration (though I'm not counting on that, not by any means).

Also, this actually amused me:

Looks like the set designers themselves decided to enter the contest. Hee!
