Brazil is playing ummmm, Paraguay, I think, Ecuador (apparently) at my local arena in under an hour (and by local I mean I hear the crowds and if I only had a window in my apartment that faced that way and if I was higher up I could probably watch the game) and there is a lot of activity outside, people scrambling to find parking spaces, no doubt. Which is exactly why my only trek outside today happened much earlier in the afternoon.

I watched some more TV.

Studio 60
I liked this episode, it was fun. Even though I'd glanced over someone's review and was aware of the bat through the window, it still made me laugh.

I still don't really feel what I've taken to calling TOBAC in my head (aka The Old Ball And Chain, aka Matt/Harriet), but there was a moment in the dressing room when Matt walks in on Harriet kissing that guy when my heart lurched. Unfortunately, I think it was just for Matt, who is definitely my fave so far.

I say unfortunately because it's so much easier to have fun with a show when you're 'shipping someone. I think my problem with Matt/Harriet is that my favorite 'ship dynamic is surface antagonism masking deep-seated similarities and a shared history. Now, they have the shared history, but all the antagonism is telling me is that they have fundamental differences. I'm not so interested in overcoming fundamental differences because I think the problem is that you can't. You either learn to live with them or move on. I don't think Matt or Harriet are ever going to learn to live with each other's fundamental differences, so what's the point?

Also, I love Sarah Paulson, but her character falls a bit flat for me. She's kind of one-dimensional to me, because so far all she's really been is "The Christian".

Heroes
Still loving this show, and it's the one I'm finding myself getting most involved with as I watch, but I don't seem to have much to say about it.

I did have one thought about the upcoming election and the timing of the nuclear device, but I'm not sure if there's actually anything there yet.

One good thing that's already coming out of this show: people are finally spelling the word "heroes" correctly.

Dexter
I was so worried about how they'd pull off having a serial killer as the main character because how are you supposed to sympathize with someone like that? The answer is that you don't. About the only person I sympathize with on this show so far is Rita, because she's just so broken, and even though I don't think Dexter will kill her or even has any interest in killing her, he could easily destroy her.

The really fascinating thing about this show is looking at the world through a sociopath's eyes and basically just finding a void. It's creepy in just the right way and I'm definitely on board for this. Doesn't hurt that Miami is such a pretty town, either.

I think I'm gonna go watch episode 3 now.

The momentum wore off a bit in the two weeks since I saw the premiere, but I'm officially excited for new VM today!

And I'm hoping for lots and lots of picspams in vmpicspam. I was a bit worried when 200 people had friended the comm in 24 hours because I thought my bandwidth would go through the roof. Only...people just linked to outside picspams (except for me and Laura). Now that's not right. I though people who had never done a picspam before might join in because it's so easy when you just have to hotlink. Or is the problem that people don't know exactly how to hotlink/picspam?
