Actually, that'd be really nice...

I was going to owl you, but I didn't want to bother you or anything and-

I'm guessing that would mean I have to hold up my end of the deal?

Yeah, that's right.

Drawing in a steadying breath, Gabriel gathered up all of the materials he thought might be helpful, although he assumed they'd be dealing mostly with 7th year charms.

Either way, he was going to be seeing Jaden again, and that was worth studying any day.

When he arrived at the portrait, he knocked timidly, ducking his head away from a few Gryffindors standing in the hall who were watching him curiously. One in particular finally decided to talk to him, and Gabe groaned inwardly as he recognized the voice.

"What are you doing here, Fulke? Are you lost?" he asked, laughing with his friends when Gabe just averted his eyes, refusing to answer him.

"No, he's not," Jaden answered in Gabe's place, having opened the portrait just in time to hear the boy's comment.

"Come on in," he told Gabe, offering him a small smile before turning back to the boys and throwing them a cold glance.

Ignoring the burn in his cheeks, Gabe followed dutifully behind Jaden. The other boys seemed to fall silent at having been proven wrong, although he could still hear at least one snickering to his friend.

"Thanks," he half-mumbled, unsure if he even wanted to mention it.

"Don't worry about it," Jaden told him, leading the other boy to his usual table in the back corner of the commmon room. "Those guys...well, they're a little slow as far as maturity goes," he said with a shrug.

[silent_gabe]

"Yeah," he agreed, trying to bring himself under control so that he wouldn't be fumbling over himself the minute they sat down.

"Have some in every house," he told him, knowing his own classmates weren't much better on most days.

[_jaden]

"Sadly enough," he said, shaking his head. He took a seat at one end of the table, quickly moving all his junk out of the way to make room for Gabe.

"Sorry about that," he mumbled a little awkwardly, stuffing a few pieces of crumpled parchment in his bag.

[silent_gabe]

Giving a small smile, he waved away the apology and took a seat. "Nah, don't worry about it. You should see me studying," he added with a slight laugh.

"Surprised I don't get lost in it."

[_jaden]

"Well, I actually do get lost," he said with a slightly embarassed smile.

"Like...right now," he added, still fumbling around the pile on the table in search of his textbook.

"This what you're looking for?" he asked, picking up a few papers and pulling out what appeared to be the 7th year textbook.

A slow grin touched his lips, but he didn't say anything further.

Jaden felt a slight blush creeping across his face and he leaned back a little in his seat.

"Yeah...that'd be it," he said shyly, avoiding Gabe's glance. "Just goes to show the extent of my organizational skills."
