Where is the rent? I must have the rent! Dollars, dimes and nickels, I need them all right now!

So yesterday I went to the Met with Laura and Melissa and Kate. I hadn't seen Kate in a very long time; a couple of years if you don't count the one time I saw her when I was getting my hair cut. She was the same but different. She seemed the same because she was sweet and giggly like Kate always was, and very easy to talk to, but I could tell if we didn't used to be good friends we would never hang out now. I'm losery and she likes to party. I don't mind being a loser though, it's less pressure.

So the day should have been a ton of fun because I love going to the Met and I was with my friends and all, but it was a little stressful and I was probably getting mean by the end of the day and I'm sorry for that. But of course despite looking everything up we managed to go in the wrong direction a couple of times which meant extra walking around NYC and I'm not really much of a city person to begin with, let along a big fan of walking. I mean, I love having New York close because I can do cool stuff like going to the Met or a Broadway show or whatever, but I like to go in for something specific and kind of get out. Because I'm really more of a nervous person who keeps her arm clamped against her side while walking so nobody can run up and snatch her purse. Like, before we left I made sure to put all the pictures from my camera onto my computer just in case because there were some Buble concert pictures and I didn't want to lose them. Crazy right? Can't help it.

Anyway, so getting there and coming home was not great but the museum itself was. They had a special Chanel exhibit and the dresses from the '20s and '30s blew me away. I'm a history nerd and I love early 20th century but I'm also girly and seeing all the '20s fab drop waist dresses was great. I wish we still dressed like that although I guess it wouldn't be as special if we did. And there was this one great evening dress from '37 I think that Laura and I loved. It looked so much like a dancing dress, like you'd see Ginger Rogers spinning around in it.

So we got there kind of late so we had to rush a bit but we hit the major areas and I got to see my favorite painting, Monet's Garden at Sainte-Adresse, so I was happy. Ooh, and Cassy you'd love this, from the Japanese art exhibit you can look down into the room made to look kind of like an Egyptian temple; it has a pond and one whole wall is just glasss so it's bright and beautiful. And they were setting it up for a party! They put tables on the raised platform above the water and candles all around the water. It looked great and must be beautiful at night too. I wonder how much it would cost to have a wedding at the Met?

Anyway, so in hindsight it was good if I ignore the few times we got lost or the smushed rush hour subway we had to take. Saturday Harry Potter is coming out and I'm psyched. Tomorrow I have an eye doctor appointment. I'm going through a big Rent phase although I've never seen it. I just keep listening to the soundtrack but I might go, which, again, is a benefit of living so close to New York. And that's my life now.

ETA: that subject line is from a Simpsons episode, not the actual show. Although singing "Rent, rent, rent, rent, reeeent!" in a song isn't much better.
