Jack booted his computer and opened his journal file. Since Jack was rather distracted, it took him a minute to remember his password.

Ellie slowly approached Jack's door, unsure at how he would take her surprise visit. Her nervousness growing, she quietly knocked on the inner wall of Jack's room to get his attention.
"Jack? Jack can I talk to you?"

"Please leave, Ellie..."

"Jack, please. I just want to talk to you. To explain. Please, just promise me that you'll listen." Ellie pleaded, tears slowly welling up in her eyes.

I suppose if I only listen, and tell Luke afterwards...
Jack nodded at the computer, hoping Ellie would realize what he meant.

"Jack I know you don't wanna hear this, but I'm sorry. I was a total cow earlier today! I don't know what came over me! It's just..I'm so confused right now with you and Luke that I don't know what to do." Ellie stopped for a moment, trying to gather the courage to finish.
"I know I can't just leave you -or Luke- like this. I know that I have to choose. All I want is to know that I still have your friendship through this Jack. I know I don't deserve it Jack, not after this afternoon. I just hope that no matter what, we can stay friends." Ellie stopped again, then lightly touched Jack's arm.
"Can you promise me that Jack? Can you promise that you'll still be my friend?" Ellie looked up at him, hoping that he would forgive her earlier behavior, and say yes

"Yeah, you were. I don't get why you would do that to me, Ellie... But I love you too much to not be able to forgive you. Look... Luke and I promised that we'd ignore you until you made your..." Jack's voice cracked. "Until you've made your decision. Afterwards... I'll try. That's all I can promise you, Ellie."
With that, Jack turned off his computer and laid down in his bed, turning away from Ellie.
"I'm glad to see you're safe."

Ellie slowly stood up up, grabbing the now empty desk for balance. With all her strength, she tried to prevent herself from crying until after she left the room, but regardless, a few tears slowly started to roll down her cheeks.
Not bothering to wipe them away, Ellie stumbled out of the room, willing herself not to look back.
