I have just finished reading Eragon. I wanted to read it before I took babe to see it, I'm still going to dispite what it may look like after you read my review of the book. Now remember please, I've only read the book and have not seen the movie yet. From what I understand reading reviews by people who have seen the movie, it ventures far away

Um. So things like that get published? And sell movie rights? And get movies made from it? Oh for goodness' sake. >.> Doesn't that make me feel better about my own fantasy stuff. ::eyeroll:: Even if I can see the point behind letting something of that sort out to the market; if Tolkien sold, so will (might) stories following the same pattern. Outrageous as I find this, as do many others, they do, to an extent, have a point...

Heh, well there are people that say Harry Potter is a Marty Stu and look where he is. LOL Like I said, if I had not been exposed to so many Mary Sue stories I might have enjoyed it, but my mind has been trained I guess, to pick up Mary Sue garbage. I will always enjoy fantasy stories, but I hate when they steal so blantantly from other stories. Although, really, with all the fantasy stories around it would be quite a task to come up with something new and orginal and that's not impossible.
Anyway dispite my terrible grammar and spelling mistakes :bangshead: I wanted to share my views of this story since it was becoming so popular.

Hello, happened on to your page through anotehr person and must admit that I am bewildered by all the Eragon haters. Does it have links with JRR? Of course it does, since that piece of work has influenced the genre...but to say that just because elves live in the forest or that the dwarves live in the mountain with a password does not make it a ripoff...as those are themes found in mythical and fantasical writing all over the world...if anything JRR stold them himsefl from common archtype myths
