Miroku walked away from Inuyasha and Kagome, his staff in hand. He sighed quietly, trying to figure out why he was feeling so strange today. My own dark thoughts will be my undoing, he told himself as he looked down, his dark hair falling over his eyes as a humorless smile crept over his face. Behind this cheery facade, I am tearing myself up from within. Things were so much easier with Mushin and Hachi, when I was actually able to talk about such grim things. It was even better before I met Inuyasha and Kagome-sama, when I was on my own. At least I did not feel as though there were people that I needed to hide these feelings from. There were simply beautiful women, and teahouses, and-.
Miroku stopped in his thoughts and tracks when he felt steam against his face. He looked up and realized that he had almost walked right into the hot springs. Perhaps... perhaps this would make me feel better. His hand went to untie his robes when he looked up, scanning the surface of the water. There was a rather large rock outcropping in the middle of the water, as though dividing it in two. He saw something dark on the other side of the springs and realized that this was Sango. She was mostly submerged, as though wishing to hide herself.
The houshi stopped, not knowing what to make of his predicament. He was unsure if Sango saw him, but if she did, would she believe that he had stumbled upon her by accident? Probably not, since it was a half lie, though he had momentarily forgotten that she was there. Though he felt the hot water would soothe him, he did not know if Sango would get horribly embarrassed to discover that he was bathing but a few yards away from her. Miroku decided that it was best to stay as still and as silent as he could for a few moments, to see if Sango had taken note of him. If she did, he would apologize and walk away. If not, then he saw no harm in entering the water, so long as both of them stayed on their own side of the rock.
