I just got back from the San Juans which was in the top 5 vacations/trips I've taken in my life. It's crazy how many different kinds of beautiful places the United States has, let alone the world. We'll never see them all!! I caught 2 mindblowing sunsets on the ferry, hiked over 6 miles to Mt. Constitution, saw tons of starfish in tidepools, went to the local farmers market, ate amazing food, toasted marshmallows, played card games, and stayed in a supersweet cabin overlooking the ocean with 8 of my closest friends. Trips like that make you realize how much extra junk you have in your life that could easily be stripped away. I need to refocus my energy on finding a lifetime career instead of one that just pays the billz. I need to write and do art more. I need to hike more. I need to clean more, haha. My room is a DISASTER, seriously. I took tons of pictures which I'll share eventually... the first roll wasn't that great as I was shooting with 200 in low light conditions, so it's hella grainy, but there were a few gems on the roll. I have another roll to drop off but I'm waiting to use the last few frames up.
Here's a bad webcam photo of me and my new tattoo - it's just the outlines, I get the rest done in about 2 weeks:
I'll post better ones when it is finished.
Also, I created my new
website and have business cards coming in the mail... I've only contacted one local gallery, and whoever is behind the email address (owner? webmaster?) didn't reject me yet - he did respond and say he was going to pass my website on to the guest curators, whomever that may be. He also suggested I check out some local artist calls which I plan on doing... but this stuff takes so much time! I wish I had more time for my art. I know at some point you have to take the plunge and have a plan and follow through... but with my fulltime job and working out and being social it sometimes takes a backburner. That's my own fault, though. I am currently negotiating to work four 10-hour days so that I can have a weekday off so I have more time during normal business hours to work on these kinds of things, pimp myself out, make prints, and go shooting. Wish me luck.
