"Without touching her, she drew from me"
-Thomas Wentworth Higginson on the subject of Emily Dickinson

Not A Fruit Fly

and so i felt the sucking from the house
everything has been left disturbed.
its ghost danced in and out of the rooms
pressed its ears against doors
and listened to my past.
stained the floral wallpaper, and i couldnt chase out the smell.
it sat on the kitchen counter
and laughed as i rummaged
followed my feet with purple eyes
fingerprints bursting with ugly skin cells
were rearranged on picture frames and wine glasses
my tiny world of green and white
had molded to a clever night
something strange has been here
everything was left disturbed.
