Day at the Beach

The beach was so wonderful. It's just what I needed. Dad even came swimming with me for awhile.

There were some wierd types, but I tried to avoid them. Tried being the keyword. I was wading into the water, minding my own business, when these two rough looking boys came up and asked me if I cared for a drink. And, of course, I opened my mouth bravely and said "Sod off."

Not.

I don't think I really said anything. I shook my head and went back to our towels. I did get to go back into the water though, because Marie ended up talking with them. Such a surprise. (Of course, Dad pretended not to notice, as usual. I saw him fingering his wand, though.) Then when she went to tell Mum about it, Mum got on my case about "not putting myself out there" and "not fancying anyone". Like I would tell her anyway.

Then there was this--

PrejudicedPride: Well, If it isn't Little Miss Innocent
InnocentElle3: Um, hello, Narcissa.
PrejudicedPride: How are you? Has your ugly sister been around much?
PrejudicedPride: Actually, nevermind. I don't care.
InnocentElle3: I'm fine, thank you.
InnocentElle3: Oh
InnocentElle3: Um, alright then.
InnocentElle3: Have you been well?
PrejudicedPride: Fantastic, actaully. I went to the most fab ball last night, and I looked gorgeous. My dress was the best one there.
InnocentElle3: That's...nice.
PrejudicedPride: Not that you would know anything about those sorts of affairs. I doubt you could even afford half of that dress.
InnocentElle3: Well, my family is fine financially. *she jiggles her foot nervously*
PrejudicedPride: I'm very sure.
PrejudicedPride: What's it like, feeling like your sister is better than you in every way?
InnocentElle3: Where there, um, many people there?
InnocentElle3: I'm not sure I know what you mean.
PrejudicedPride: Only those who count.
PrejudicedPride: Why, isn't your younger sister a prefect?
InnocentElle3: Well, yes, but-
PrejudicedPride: So how does that feel?
InnocentElle3: Mum and Dad are very proud of her.
PrejudicedPride: And you?
InnocentElle3: I...*she takes a deep breath in an attempt to steady her voice* I am, too.
PrejudicedPride: Don't you feel slightly insignifficant.
PrejudicedPride: Of, course you do. How silly of me. You are, after all, a Gryffindor.
InnocentElle3: *Trying to stall her answer, she wrings her hands and looks around for an escape* I...I just...really don't know what you could mean by that, Narcissa.
PrejudicedPride: Oh, I think you do.
InnocentElle3: I'm proud of Marie. *It is apparent in her nervous expression and body language that she is lying*

Then luckily the conversation ended. Ooh, the Black sisters just give me shivers. Except Andromeda. She's nice, I think. I wouldn't know. I've never really talked to her. But at least it wasn't Bellatrix. Honestly, though, did she have to bother me about that? And I managed to sound like a twit. No surprise there.

I'm not going to let anything ruin my good mood, though, because the sunset over the water was beautiful. All I have to do is think of that and I smile. Almost as pretty as Hogwarts.
