So the last few posts about autism & Asperger's and INFP traits got me wondering about another disorder. I seem to test really high on this. Anyone else think they might have some schizotypal traits

but yes I do think looking at one's "styles" can be quite beneficial in gaining more self-awareness, and in exploring different aspects of one's personality, if one keeps aware that it's not likely to turn into the disorder.
And even if one requires counseling, it's definitely useful to know which sort of lines you fall on or what sort of things one has trouble with, even if it's not full blown.
I'd recommend trying to find 'Personality Self-Portrait: Why You Think, Work, Love and Act the Way You Do' by John M. Oldham... should be in libraries. :-) or there's always Amazon, etc.
That actually doesn't sound much like me at all, but a lot of those sound like the complete opposite of me. :P
I used to think I had Avoidant Personality Disorder, but I must have just had the symptoms of it rather than the actual disorder, because it seems to be manageable now.
Won't lie, I was very paranoid that I was a schizophrenic when I was younger.
I was very pleased to find out that I was just a writer, most likely. lol! At the very least, I had indeed created a vast mythos starting at adolescence, that is typical of infp nature. You have no idea how THRILLED I was to read that!
It is also my understanding that our personality type has a tendency to splinter or slip into other personalities.
However, is schizophrenic exactly related to schizotypal?
Yeah, I sometimes wondered if I'm INFP or not. I mean most of the time I am but sometimes my personality is definitely not INFP. I used to thought I have mood swing problem or something.
Well, with maturity (which can happen at any age) we hopefully acquire the ability to control our emotions better. It is one of THE best parts of getting older, despite the hype of youth.
Also, believe it or not, I've found that having more control over my life (which comes with responsibility) AND a better diet (less sugar specifically, non-hormone induced food), AND more sleep, AND better hydration, did wonders for balancing my moods. It's something that I barely have to think about now, where I used to nearly feel like I might explode!
