You're not off the mark at all linking manic-depression with INFP tendencies. I was in a four-year cohabitating relationship with someone who had manic depression. We very much "understood" one another when we first met, but at the end of it all we fed on each other's moods so much that we couldn't relate in healthy fashion. It was a very hard choice to leave, but now we're very close friends again and both healthier for it
