For some reason, I can only work on the E-news while listening to a soundtrack from a musical. I spent an hour and a half goofing off on VH when I was supposed to be doing the E-news, and then after I DL'd the Dr.H soundtrack from itunes and put it on, I concentrated perfectly nonstop until it was done, besides the quick transition after Dr.H ended and I had to switch over to Phantom of the Opera and check webcomic updates. Musicals just help me focus better, I guess!
School is back in session, and I'm super busy again, like always. My parents asked me what sort of job I want when I graduate, and I said flat out that I want something "boring and office-y" which is totally true. It will be a nice break after 22 years of craziness. "But you love being busy!" they exclaimed. And yes, I do. But I want a year or two of boringjobness while I work on making my name in freelance writing, to support myself and enjoy life without the stress of school and stuff.
My classes are ok I guess. I don't want to go into details besides that two of them are Senior Project classes (Capstone and Career Prep) and two of them are Workshop classes (Humor and Poetry), and the last one is just a freshman level honors class I never took.
The more exciting thing is that I have become a part of a secret gorilla poetry group. Our first meeting is on Wednesday at midnight. If you write poetry and want to cause a ruckus, then email me or call me and I'll clue you in (if I think you're trustworthy).
On Saturday I had my Worst Day Ever at Pluckers. It was truly horrible. I'll spare you the gory details, but I shall NEVER work another daytime shift because the daytime manager is a slew-of-swear-words-ending-with BITCH.
After that horrible shift, I made Gunnar take me to Half-Price books, where I bought Redwall, Looking for Alaska, and Gial Carson Levine's Disney Fairies book. So far I've finished Looking for Alaska, and it was phenomenal. I haven't read a YA book that good in a very long time, probably since I discovered Garth Nix in high school. If you haven't read it, please do. It's touching and sincere and uses English in ways that I wish more writers would try doing--beautifully. I'd heard a lot about John Green because of the Brotherhood 2.0 thing, but I had no idea he was actually that great of a writer. Wow!
I ran into Steve today, and we plan to gather up the old Japan crowd if possible, buy a few packs of Asahi super-dry, and remenisce next weekend. It should be fun! In honor of the upcoming gathering and my underground poetry group, here's what I submitted to workshop today:
Club 59 and the Cool Banana
Free food
Free Beer
All the Mongolian Girlfriends
I could ever want
Mengutsegtseg
Asks to dance with me
I monkey
Then twist
I'm the cause of the party
My boyfriend taught me to dance
In America
Three Thousand Miles
Away
I finally recognize
the song
It's the Beach Boys
With a Japanese accent
I take Meng's number
But I never call her
My phone is in America
japan,
student e-news,
poem,
classes,
plucker's
