I have been researching them all day for my job, and I just have to share these pictures. Also, I just asked one of my friends to paint me a picture of one, so here are some refs for her!





For your information, Ocelots are a small cat about 3 feet long and 15-30 lbs. They are an endangered species and South Texas is the only place in the U.S. that they still live. There are only about 150 of them down there, with the rest of the population dispersed through the rain forests of South America, less that 1,000 total. Nocturnal, they feed on rabbits, birds, and lizards, and are extremely shy. Their decline is mostly due to over-hunting for their beautiful pelts, but also because their natural shrubby habitat in the southern united states has been converted to flat open farmland.
