SXSW and related thoughts

1)Passed miniature pony farm on trip to Austin. Saw said mini ponies grazing on front lawn. Dan refused to stop and let me get one.
2)Parked in creepiest parking garage ever. Off 5th and something, it must have been about ten stories high and had between four and ten parking spots on each floor. There was also stair way to go up or down so you had to walk the same thin ramp that cars were on and when you got to the middle of each floor you could look out and see the floor above and beneath you. It was a touch disorientating.
3) Saw Thurston Moore wandering around with guitar.
4) Walked three miles to get Vice party passes and see Turbonegro. Got passes and waited an hour to see Turbonegro (who apparently require quite a bit of tuning up), got bored and left.
5) Found the Mess with TX party but got there about half and hour before it was over. Apparently the wait to get in was two hours so we didn't bother.
6)Got to Waterloo in time to hear the last two songs the Stooges played but couldn't get inside. I didn't care because I hate the Stooges but thought Dan was going to cry.
7)Found all the cds I'd been looking for in Houston but no one here carries, Slim Cessna, Munly, Trailer Bride.
8) Hit Toy Joy like a hurricane.
9) Hung out with Dan's friends and saw bands on Saturday. Highlights were: The Ponies, Buttercup, Green Slime from Planet Orange, and Reverand Peyton.
I think we're still on for moving to Austin or San Antonio in two years. House prices are a little scary though. The house we rent here would sell for about $200,000 in Austin it would be $300,000. Eep. Either way, we're blowing this joint.
