Here we are.

With the time zone change, I'm technically supposed to be more energetic, right? Too bad I was ready for bed at 7:00. Could be something to do with four or five hours of sleep in the last 48 hours. Lugging 150 pounds of luggage around Dulles looking for a cab. Or I'm just coming down off of my adrenaline rush.

Balls-to-the-wall-Rachel came to play, though. I was social at our meetings, talked to as many people as I could when we went for a walk to the metro to gather our bearings. But I couldn't help but notice how some things never change. I came across three girls from California, one from Ventura and two from Thousand Oaks. Two of them go to LMU. One was really sweet, she knows of Jessica, but the other one...fits every USD/LMU girl stereotype ever created. With her Lacoste velcro shoes, gray trench coat when it was barely raining, and striped polo over her Eurotrashlike pants. And I tried to talk to her, because we're in the same program and tomorrow we're spending the whole day together on our orientation and I wanted to meet people. But she kept dismissing my comments and going back to the sorority girls at the back of the group. Whatever. I found a Red Sox fan who wants to go watch the game at a bar and two Canadian boys who don't know what to do with so many Americans. I'm exhausted and falling asleep as I type, but I feel like, really, I got this.

Also, my roommates are both from Mass, with the accents and attitude to match. Too bad they both have boyfriends and our fourth roommate (the one I know) just laid down the LAW and said she didn't feel comfortable having boys over EVAR. So...I sit here, typing so fast I could cut the tension in the room with my keystrokes.

And now, I'm going to finish watching the Sox beat up on the Yankees, shower, get some much needed sleep, and be up in time to get to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial by 9am.

SO much love.
