You see: as everyone thinks "eww gross chopped liver. thats sick " "hahhaha u are chopped liver" we can sit back and relax having a peachy ol' time because we are reassured that no one would dare eat us because we are so disgusting and franky inedible. So those who laugh at our 'copped liver-ness' we, in fact, are the ones who should be laughing, because they can be sweet and good tasting and all that jazz, but they, in the end, will be eaten.
