tutorial: easy outline effect

Apr 03, 2006 15:06

devilwrites asked me how I achieved the outline effect on my Heather Graham set, so here's a short tutorial. :)

I'm using Photoshop CS2, but seeing how it's very basic stuff, I'm sure it can easily be translated to other image editing programs like Ulead PhotoImpact.

Thank you so much! I've always done outlines OVER the subject, but I can see that doing them UNDER the subject might be a lot easier. This is excellent! :)

I couldn't correctly outline over the subject, even if it was the only way to save my life. LOL

Glad I could help! :)

You're welcome! :p

I've seen you've posted yourself some useful tutorials. I'll most probably add them to my resources post, because they give really cool effects! :)

I usually just select the person with the magnetic lasso tool, and then go to selection > expand and then enter 3 pixels. and then i feather it. and then i use the fill tool to fill it in.

heh, my laziness drives me to discover the easy way around things. its not usually the best way, but hey.. it hasn't let me down yet. Yours works as well, so i hope you didnt think i didnt like it.

It's cool to try other methods! Even more so as I'd have never thought about that myself. I'm not even sure I know what "feathering" is (but I'll find out)! LOL
