I am back in Boston after being away for about a week. All of vacation I spent going back and forth, staying at home and working in the city and then Zach and I split Xmas right down the middle. He drove up to be in attendance for the annual Reynolds-Converse Christmas Eve extrvaganza, and then we went to dinner/Yankee swap at his grandparent's house. I was then driven to Wareham on Christmas morning where my dad came and picked me up.
Then, on New Years Eve, I met the Catanias at the airport for my first plane ride. And a glorious and well deserved week in the Carribean.
Providenciales, Turks an Caicos Islands, BWI - to be exact.
The view from our terrace:
Grace Bay:
We stayed on the most beautiful beach on the island. The beach was amazing, I went swimming everyday. We went snorkeling twice, the first time I saw a sea turtle! He was really cool. The second time was when we went sailing, and that was really the best snorkeling. We sailed out to one of the barrier reefs and saw all kinds of cool things on the live reefs ( I saw a parrot fish munching little fish).
The island is technically a British Island (Part of the British West Indes) but there is a lot of American influence. The currency is American, but you drive on the left side of the road (in American cars though- so the steering wheel is still on the left too.....)
The plane ride home was pretty ...bad. We waited in the tiny unconditioned airport in Provo for three hours. There was a storm in Charlotte (where our stop over was) and so it was bumpy going down, US Customs was a bitch and I got hasseled about having little pieces of dead coral that had washed up onto the beach (It is endangered.. but it was washed up on the beach so I don't see how that matters. It's not like I cut it off of a live reef.) And then we had to run to catch the plane to Providence, because one of the US Airways guys told us the wrong gate. FUN. Then I drove to Boston and got all my stuff inside.. and as soon as my parents left, Marie said to me," Can you turn the light off? I want to go to bed now." As I am standing in the middle of the floor surrounded by unopened suitcases, After 12 hours of traveling (we left Le Vele at noon. I walked into the room in Boston at Midnight. Joy.) Thats roomate love for you.
And I just decided not to add the class that I was planning to. I'm going to take a nap instead.
