Ten Irrational Thoughts, or, Musterbations

1. **I must have love or approval from all of the people that I find significant, all of the time.

2. I must prove thoroughly competent, adequate, and achieving all of the time.

3. **When people act obnoxiously and unfairly, I should blame and damn them and see them as bad, wicked or rotten individuals(to put it nicely).

4. I have to view things as awful, terrible, horrible, and catastrophic when I get seriously fustrated, treated unfairly, or rejected.

5. Emotional misery comes from external pressures, and I have little ability to control or change my feelings.

6. If something seems dangerous or fearsome, I must preoccupy myself with it and make myself anxious about it.

7. I can more easily avoid facing many of life's difficulties and self-responsibilities than undertake more rewarding forms of self-discipline.

8. **My past remains all important and because something once strongly influenced my life, it has to keep determining my feelings and behavior today.

9. People and things should turn out better than they do and I must view it as awful and horrible if I do not find good solutions to life's unpleasant realities.

10. I can achieve maximum human happiness by inertia and inaction or by passively and uncommittedly "enjoying myself."
