It's hard for people like you and me to understand why addicts are addicted, especially addicts that we were raised by/grew up with. I ask the same questions every day, they usually start with what if, or why cant they...
The conclusion i've come up with is that they are weak people. People like you and I who have grown up with addiction have grown stronger from our loved ones addictions. We know the trouble and years of hurt that substance abuse can cause so just being a witness to what these people due to themselves (and to us) is what makes us stronger than they will ever be.
I know what she means, its different for people who've lived with family all their life who have issues with the stuff, we become stronger because of it. and its not to say that someone is weak, just some people are more suceptable to addiction than others. I for one, have almost grown a thick skin where the sheer thought of being addicted to anything repulses me just because I've seen and delt with so much of it.
if addiction isnt weakness, i don't know what is. It prevents you from doing the things you love and you almost always hurt the people you love over an irrational dependency.
yeah, me and you always had a way of thinking alike. have fun in florida kiddo, don't get attacked by a manatee or anything, you know how those large aquatic mammals can be haha
