BANG!
Hermione’s head snapped up from the window, tearing her eyes away from the mountain landscape flying past the train. She had paused in her rounds around the train, stopping to admire the English countryside as the Hogwarts Express made its way toward the castle where they would all spend the coming school year. Taking a moment to adjust her robes, Hermione tucked her hair behind her ears, ensuring that her shiny Prefect badge was visible to all.
With her chin raised, she made her way up the car, glancing inside of compartments as she went. A second year Ravenclaw nearly bowled her over as he jumped out into the passageway. “Oh, sorry!
Just looking for the treats cart. I thought I heard it pass by just now.”
Hermione placed her hands on her hips and offered a small scowl to the Ravenclaw. “You really must watch where you’re going, you know. Now instead of worrying about sweets, you ought to change into your robes. We’ll be at the school shortly.”
As the younger student ducked back into the compartment, Hermione continued down. There was only one compartment left in the car and she was sure that was where the sound had come from. Secretly, she hoped to catch a student or two breaking the rules, just so she could subtract a couple points from the trouble-makers.
