I do not understand the fascination with 'body art'. There is nothing artistic about it at all. It is the permanent disfigurement of the body. It is said to be a terribly painful process and the results will stay with your forever. We are not meant to be marked like cattle ( Read more... )

Tattooing is an ancient tradition that has taken place for reasons both religious and status-related. In some cultures body scarification is a common practice and is a sign of beauty. If you wish to deny tattoos, you might as well ban makeup, jewelry, or the very clothes we wear.

While you would be correct in assuming that many criminals bear tattoos, throughout history it has generally been done against their will and used as a marker to expose them to authorities. Also the one argument I would have agreed with you did not use, the one of tattooing's various health risks. But I shall leave you to think what you will.
