By any means necessary

Has anyone else noticed Director Wilikins' ...rather erratic behavior? He has asked me for the documents on the Department of Security and Defense three times today, despite the fact that I have given them to him the first time he asked. The poor man. We're all overworked and stretched out these days. He deserves a vacation somewhere quiet.

Riots, disappearances, a few notable areas of discontent among the werewolf and vampire communities. Another day in the Ministry of Magic.

Minister, Auror Moody,

In light of recent events, perhaps it is time to review my suggestion regarding the way the Ministry conducts its business vis a vis the people's security, or lack thereof? The most recent riot in Diagon Alley has strengthened my resolve that if this Ministry wishes to remain on top of the growing problem, we must allow our aurors the executive power to arrest and detain suspicious elements by any means necessary.

For the good of the majority, we must suspend certain civilian rights. The presentation of warrants prior to arrest or entering someone's premises can no longer be applicable in times of war. It would also be prudent to allow our aurors to extract information from suspects in any manner they see fit.

May I also suggest that auror Shaklebolt's suspension be lifted immediately. We can not afford to lose good men, no matter how temporary.
