I find my prof to be conducting herself rather unprofessionally via email, although in a fashion fitting to her 'character' that I've become acquainted with over the term. Given the extenuating circumstances, I guess I expected a little less "I don't have time to deal with this" and a little more "you poor thing, what can I do to make this easier for you." My brother said what she wrote was disgusting. Two of my uncles asked for her email and offered (threatened?) to "take care of it."
I'm not really one for complaining about a young and fairly enthusiastic profs when they are trying for tenure, etc. so I just shrugged it off. But now my intelligence has been slightly bruised by her most recent and very curt reply.
I had asked about alternative ways my grade could be submitted in order to avoid a 'Standing Deferred' on my transcript, possibly preventing my attempts to salvage my graduation this May. I even suggested that if she was unaware of other possibilities, she could forward my email on to someone who might be of more help (she obviously hadn't figured out the whole deferred exam bit on her own the first time, as she had copied and pasted a reply of instructions from a colleague in her department), or pass on their info so I could contact them myself.
Her reply was that she didn't understand my email, repeated exactly what she had told me before about my Standing Deferred grade, and signed it with: Capiche? Prof _____.
Now, I know she has options about submitting my grade, as is being done for my Chem marks. And maybe I'm being a bit sensitive here, but given the situation? Lady, why don't you BITE ME.
Anyways, I'll likely be having a word or two with her department.
And I'm probably going to snarl at the next person who brings up the end of exams.
