All four of the babies seemed quite plump, warm and healthy when we got home last night. We shifted them into the nesting box we had left with Sweetie for the day, as she had pulled more fur from her belly and we felt it would seem more familiar and smell more like her. It also gave me a chance to check them over. We did use vanilla extract on her nose to confuse the scents. She knows they’re there, and the question remains will she nurse them ? - the problem being that does generally don’t nurse their kits while being watched, and wait for a quiet time to do so. I have to trust that she’s feeding them when I’m not there. There was no visible movement this morning, but that isn’t an indication of a problem. I didn’t want to disturb her any more than I already have. Sweetie was camped out beside the nesting box but was interested in the greens, dried apple and oats that I brought. There were leftover greens from the night before, but I think she is still stressed and new to the whole situation.
