Did somebody die or something?

Apr 02, 2006 15:16

Last Sunday was our preacher's (in Muncie) last Sunday to preach before he retired. His wife was our Sunday School teacher. So this Sunday was the first Sunday that they weren't there. And the way some people talked, they sounded like they died. For instance: After the first service, Darren and I were heading out the door instead of going to Sunday School - because our teacher wasn't there. And this lady stopped us. She asked us if we were going to go to Sunday School. We said no, Glinda was our Sunday School teacher, and we were attached to her and her teaching methods, and before I could finish, "we all were" like Glinda had died or something. And then she said that there were other Sunday School classes we could go to (here, she sounded like she was consoling us from a break up or something). She said that Jessica and Adam? (they are college students too) really liked the seeker's class. (First of all, Jessica gives me the creeps. She is always prim and proper. And last year, I would see her in Woodworth all the time and she never said hi, despite my attempts to be friendly. And she reminds (as in looks like her) me of Jennifer Michael, who would always be nice to me at church, but would scorn me at work.) Point being, I really don't think that my argumentative personality would work well in the same Sunday School class as someone who ignored me last year. Sunday School would lose all it's fun. So it was freaking craziness. I also had to explain that there were only four Sunday's left in the school year. Two of those Sunday's either Darren or both of us will be at home. So that would leave a minimum of two Sundays that we would be there, so we wouldn't look for a Sunday School class for just two weeks. And on top of that, we told Charlie that we wanted to hear him preach at least one Sunday at his church, so that takes up another Sunday. So now we are left with one. Ok, so that takes us to next fall. Darren won't be here in the fall because he will be student teaching. So I will probably go to church with Keith and Andy (roomies for next year). And they go on Saturday nights. Hmmm, I wonder if they have considered me tagging along. Anyhoo, so why would I look for a Sunday School class for one Sunday of this year, and I probably won't go to that church until January of 07. Holy crap that seems forever away.

So Darren and I were talking. And he was telling an antecdote (I can't spell, I hope you know what I mean) about Keith. I will now try to recreate this moment. It was such a Darrenism, I don't think I will ever forget it. Or let him forget it.

Darren: So Keith wasn't talking to me this morning
Crystal: ??
Darren: 'cause he was sleeping
Crystal: [Laughs so hard she cries] (if he was sleeping, why would he be talking to him?)
Darren: Are you done?
Crystal: um hmmm
Darren: So Keith was looking at me this morning, but he wasn't talking to me
Crystal: He was looking at you while he was sleeping?????
Darren: He wasn't sleeping!
Crystal: What????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [laughs even harder]
Darren: Proceeds to tell Crystal Darren and Chris' commentary on why Keith wasn't talking, but in case Keith ever stumbles across this, we won't embarrass him by sharing the details

Anyhoo, it was freakin hilarious. Maybe you should have been there.

Earlier in the day, maybe as a forshadowing, Darren said, "if you think i'm inteligent, you have another thing coming."

So tonight I'm making biscuts and gravy and eggs, I think, I need to check the expiration date, and sausage links. I'm so pumped. It seems that I do more cooking on Sunday nights than any other night. Although last night I made a huge batch of chili for myself to eat this week. But that doesn't count. Why? Because I freakin said so and if you have a problem with that, um, I really can't beat you up, so maybe you should just take a long walk off a short pier.

Ok, so this whole Daylight Savings Time in Indiana is a crock. What the hell? I think we got it all mixed up or something. We are supposed to "gain" an extra hour of daylight in the evening right? Well, I don't know about you all, but on day one, it is darker at 3:30 than it usually is. I couldn't see my keyboard a little bit ago. I had to turn on a freaking desk lamp. I know it is the weather making it seem so dark, but I still find it a bit ironic.

I finally had my blood drawn to find my blood type for Spain. Needles and I aren't best friends, especially since I had that foot surgery and they stuck a five foot needle in both of my feet and then injected that numbing stuff, which made the pain worse. But after that horrible ordeal with mis pies {that's Spanish for my feet, pronounced meees pee A (long a)s} the vival of blood wasn't so bad.

I'm O+ by the way.

Fin (spanish for end, pronounced feen)
