seattle -> sf on southwest is about $80 if you book it advance-ish. but you'd be going to the oakland airport, which is probably closer to sf than the sf airport anyway, and either airport you have to take the bart in. oakland -> la is ~$50.
ummm, yeah. i did seattle/portland/sf in like 3 weeks, but i don't think you have that much time. seattle and portland are cool, but they're a bitch to get around if you don't have a car. ride the monorail in seattle, and play some indoor mini-golf. go check out the library and the emp. go to the ave in the u-district and capitol hill. portland, go to powell's and the japanese garden and omsi. and trendy-first and trendy-third (NW 21st and NW 23rd) if you want to shop.
sf has a great public trans system and you can get around easy-peasy, and it's surprisingly easy to walk. go to haight ashbury and hit ameoba records, then walk towards the city down haight and get a belgian beer at toronado. go to baker beach and try not to stare at the nude people. do the alcatraz night tour. rent a bike, go across the golden gate to sausalito, and take a ferry back across. go to fisherman's wharf for a second and laugh at the tourists and taunt the sea lions on pier 39. play in the water at ocean beach and try not to get run over by a horse. go to chinatown and buy a lot of useless crap, and go to north beach and hit city lights bookstore. have a slice of pizza at blondie's at the powell turn-around. gawk at the remnants of the freeways that collapsed during that one big earthquake. go eat at orphan andy's in the middle of the night in the castro. take the powell-hyde cable car and check out the lombard st/coit tower view. take the california line cable car because NOBODY does since it just kind of drops you off at van ness for no reason but it'll take you past grace cathedral park.
