there are so many stories about love's irony
but today i've felt the pain of one that was close to me
it wasn't me in the relationship because it never has been
instead it was a friend that's best and love's irony took him in
i won't name names but
i knew a couple of several weeks
rather affectionate they were
like love notes everyday and kisses on the cheek
but what has beginning must have end
the only variable is when
love's irony was swift in strike
and he lost the best thing in his life
he had never felt this way before
it was so evident to me
it seemed alright, and i thought
maybe for a long time they would be
turns out everyone was deceived
and in a series of nights
over which the battle was fought
between death and survival of love
it was alright, or so we thought
and in one weekend of
trials, tribulations and pain
it showed how quickly love
can cause a life to rearrange
endings are so tragic
full reversal from love's magic
when you love, the warning is clear
at any time, the end could be near
and i guarantee that it will hurt
sets off all kinds of alerts
unless you happily marry and settle
if it makes you feel any better, it's inevitable
but that's the twist of love's irony
doesn't end up like you expect it to
and if it wants, it could stop a heart
and it could even turn it blue
it could do things to the mind
it could make you unhappy
it could even turn a gun
on the very heart that used to beat
and in a series of nights
over which the battle was fought
between death and survival of love
it was alright, or so we thought
and in one weekend of
trials, tribulations and pain
it showed how quickly love
can cause a life to rearrange
everything will change
girls never want to tell you the truth
when the truth is ugly
they don't want to make you feel bad
but fabrication makes it worse in reality
sometimes people are illogical
sometimes they don't even know the truth
it could happen to the best of us
it will always turn the heart blue
if it's me or if it's you
he knew all along
he knew what was wrong
his heart just didn't want to believe it
love's irony gave him an uppercut
that he wasn't ready for, in the gut
nor did he want to accept
the inevitable ending
of his long-forgotten emotion of love
there will always be the grim reality
that love will probably never rise above
no matter how hard you try
it's one in a million, live or die
because your chances are slim and none
because soon something will be done
parting is such sweet sorrow
sorrow, sorrow
and in a series of nights
over which the battle was fought
between death and survival of love
it was alright, or so we thought
and in one weekend of
trials, tribulations and pain
it showed how quickly love
can cause a life to rearrange
nothing is the same
i think everyone thinks
that their soulmate love will be oh so perfect
with the perfect person in the perfect world
it won't work like that beneath the surface
you and your mate won't have everything in common
you will argue much
your heart will be torn apart
and stay through the trials and such
and for it to survive
for it to not die
for it to last the years and not fall
means that it was love after all...
and by the way, in case you were wondering
no time soon will i be getting into things like this
because firstly, no one will ever come my way at all
and secondly, is all the pain worth the kiss?
is it worth it for imperfection to settle
and for love's irony to be inevitable
so just like always, my heart remains
so alone and far away...
