"The cards never lie! Call Ms. Cleo today for your free tarot reading. Call me now, babies!"
You always know it can't be good when they refer to themselves in the third person and their audience as babies.
To quote Modest Mouse "A fake Jamaican took every last dime with that scam." Yeah, that's right, I, Gregory Pratt, fell for the TV psychic ploy. I was talked into it, actually. One of my "friends" tricked me into it.
It was a very interesting conversation. I could tell right off the bat that she wasn't Jamaican. She kept losing her accent in the middle of my very expensive tarot card reading. After getting past the general stuff that could apply to anyone, she started to predict my future, which was filled with all these crazy brushes with death. Little did I know that a few years later I would end up driving my new car into a river and end up with a brain bleed. In the middle of that insanity, all I could think of was that damn fortune. Oddly enough, sometimes I feel like that call was worth the $72.50. Only sometimes.
The cards never lie.
