Dolores O'Riordan -- Linger (live on Radio National)
I got an email from Microsoft today,
telling me they're closing down (the distant ancestor of) the Link Exchange. I remember their standardised,
468 x 60 pixel GIFs (often animated) smeared across much of the web in the late '90s, almost as common then as Adwords are today. I even built a few myself. I'd guess they dominated the space for a good four to six years, though: centuries in Internet time. Now, even wikipedia's
forgotten about them; superceded and just way out of fashion, like
desktop push technology and
VRML.
I enjoy this pace.
