I definitely can.

I grew up in a very gender strict household. I was not a tomboy ever. I was a very andro child - into books and artisy-ness, with few friends (none beyond bullies in my early years). When puberty part 1 came around, I did identify with girlhood. i wanted it. I thought it would make me a part of a group I was always rejected from. I was a very uncomfortable girl, but I tried real hard, seeking approval from my peers and my family.

It made transition hard for me, hearing all the stories that were "I was like this since birth." I just knew that this was me, regardless of having anything like that to back me up.

Transition is always terrifying, no matter what anyone has felt before. It effects every relationship you've had, have, and ever will have... that is an incredibly astounding decision to do to your life, no matter what age.

The girl i learned and tried to fit into, and the man I grew up to be (I had no idea what it was to be a man until I was living it), allows me a very interesting perspective of our culture, and dictates how I navigate it, just like anybody else. I am not special, I just have an advantage of living in very different roles.
