Melbourne wrap up

Apr 28, 2008 16:42

FUCK!! I just lost my whole Melbourne wrap up post, so this is a brief summary of my last week in Melbourne:

LOTS of Krispy Kreme, LOTS of graffiti photo taking with Yoyo, some shopping (spices, shoes, tabs... =P), window cleaning chicks abseiling down glass building walls, dinner @ Gaylord (lolz still), St Vincent's cathedral, Brunswick St in Fitzroy, my sweet Gibson SG Voodoo, Bimbo's AWESOME pizza, hanging out with friends, Brunetti's cakes looking better than they taste, more card trickery, making new friends, dinner @ Taco Bill, recreational mesh grids @ a playground, Scientology & creating my own religion sometime in the near future, PORCUPINE TREE GIG!!!, my first & only breakfast in Melbs, JetStar check in vain old grumpy crows making me check in my handcarry & charging me $56, & the sad flight home, though its good to be back. Perth still feels like home.

For now... =P

So anyway I got back on Saturday & went out with dad & Worm for dinner. Came home to watch Man U vs Chelsea, but I fell asleep after the first half. Woke up about 10 to 12, & made my way to Sin for Blacklung. Felt like coming home for the second time, going to Sin. Didn't stay out late though, as I had work @ the WAPL finals on Sunday. Got home, showered & shaved off my mohawk. Back to bald...

Worked from 10-7 on Sunday.

Today was PD at school, no pupils, & I'm part time & recieved no news of any PD, so I decided not to go.

Tomorrow I'm back to school. Gonna make a fresh start with the kids. Set the rules right, use the new military look to try & command a little bit more authority in the classroom. Try to create a better learning environment. & of course, catch up with the kids & find out how their term break went. :)

Speaking of school & kids, I just remembered something that happened on Saturday arvo at the airport. After I had picked up my bags & went outside, waiting for my dad to come pick me up, I heard the words I'd been dreading to hear all this time. It started with a mighty gasp, followed by "Oh, that's my teacher!" I turned to see Brooke from my yr9 photography class & her family looking my way. I'm standing there in my boots & leather buckle pants, black rock'n'roll Tshirt, with my fading green mohawk, & my white oversized Oakleys, with my silver suitcase, 2 guitars, & 4 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. I smile at them & pull out my mobile phone. Awkward moment? Definately.

Which also reminds me of the elderly couple I met on the tram. It was their first day in Melbourne, & they were finding their way to Southbank, & the semi drunk was giving them shoddy directions. So being an expert in Melbourne navigation after a week, I offered some help, & we got started talking. Turns out the lady was also a teacher, & when I told them I also teach, the husband insisted to take a photo of me with my leather pants & both guitars (as I was on the way to Bob's place for jamming, followed by DV8 after), to show to her maths department.

I don't think I was really meant to become a teacher...

*Edit* P/S: Come to my gig @ the Hydey tomorrow (29th April), 8pm.
